Last Thursday, my work at the office was starting to get more and more complicated. Since I’m just relatively new to SEM and I’m not done training yet, I’m often dumbfounded especially when some people (who think I’m an “expert”) bombard me with technical questions and ask for solutions to some website problems — to which I give fairly good answers, but unsure if correct. LOL. While my mind was swirling and my lips were turning purple in the icy-cold a/c, I decided to go to the park just 2 blocks away from our building and stay there for a while so I could have time to clear my head.

The Legaspi Park (the one on the left side of Thailand Street when facing Ayala Avenue, not the right) must be the only park in Metro Manila that is not lovers-infested. Not that lovers who go for Public Display of Affection (PDA) in general, bother me.. But when you’re specifically looking for serenity in an area that is the closest you can get to nature, you don’t want to be in a place where you have no choice but to glance at sets of two people in every direction who seem to be effectively portraying characters out of romance novels. LOL.

The Legaspi Park, on the other hand, is perfect.volleyball When I got there, I sat on the grass and watched a group of friends adjacent to me play an unofficial volleyball game. I was watching them for about 5 minutes, wishing they’d invite me to play (yeah, right!) and observing the way they volley, toss, and spike the ball. But it was just after a few more minutes that I noticed that these students weren’t even talking to each other. I used to play before so I know for a fact that it’s kinda hard for players not to be communicating in a volleyball game. They were laughing and smiling, but I heard not a single word. And then, one of them started gesturing with his hands, then another, and another. It was then I realized that these kids were deaf-mute. Just watching them play and have simple fun with each other made me smile. I went there to find warmth and serenity and I did. I even wished that my world can be as peaceful as theirs even for just a day. I imagined how it was like to be unable to inflict pain or impose pressure on other people with harsh spoken words… Things would be a lot less difficult that way than when you have all the freedom to say anything you want to say, anywhere, at any time — which we all know can easily get us into trouble. But then again, in their case, there is the risk of misreading the sign language of another, thus could also lead to a terrible misunderstanding. Hehe!

They must have known I was taking photos of them playing because all of sudden each one of them started communicating rapidly with their hands, as if saying, “What is this lady doing taking pictures of us?? Let’s all grab her, tie her up to a tree, and beat her up!” So before they were even done thinking about it, I got up and walked away. My job there is done!

Here’s something interesting. While I was (slowly) walking back to our building, I passed by this purple car parked on the curb and this small white thingie stuck on its door caught my eye. I looked more closely and flinched. Can you identify it?

gum

Yep, that’s right. That’s gum, my friend. That’s how disgusting some people can get. I posted this photo here as a warning to all of you to watch out for pigs such as the one who did this! Such a lovely brand-new Honda Jazz car does not deserve this sick injustice! I am infuriated on behalf of its owner. LOL.
