One Tree Hill Season 5

One Tree Hill is back! It’s bigger, better and sweeter. But I still don’t like Peyton. I mean, not as much as I like Brooke and Haley. Hehe. Until Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes and Desperate Housewives return (Hey, I heard Lost is back too!), I’ll be watching out for the new episodes of One Tree Hill Season 5. More than I will Prison Break, that is. Watch One Tree Hill previews and interviews here.

Desktop Free View, Stardust, Heroes, and More

So I’ve finally read Stardust and have seen the movie. My reaction? To quote Ade‘s comment on my previous post, it’s the “BEST. MOVIE. EVER.”

This is probably the first time I’m gonna say that I liked the film version better than the book, and probably the only time I’m gonna admit that the long-haired Tristran looked better than the short-haired one (I usually like guys with short, clean-cut hair, lol). So if you hadn’t seen Stardust, go see it now! The special effects are prettier when viewed on the big screen. Don’t you think Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer are just perfect for their roles? Hehe. :)

Here’s my favorite quote from the movie:

You know when I said I knew little about love? That wasn’t true. I know a lot about love. I’ve seen it, centuries and centuries of it, and it was the only thing that made watching your world bearable. All those wars. Pain, lies, hate… It made me want to turn away and never look down again. I couldn’t help but smile after Yvaine said that line. I even think it’s kind of Biblical. Lol!

I’m happy that I was able to watch a good movie lately. I’m starting to get tired of the usual TV shows I watch. Prison Break is becoming dull. I watch it just out of habit now, and not because I’m intrigued. Killing off Sara Tancredi was a big mistake, too. Yeah, I understand that the Sarah in real life has already shifted priorities.. But still, I think it’s pretty lame how her death sprang up out of nowhere. And after all that Sara and Michael have been through?? How could you?! Lol.

Heroes is still exciting, but I can’t help but scoff every time they reveal a connection between this character and that character.. And that this character is the son of a friend of that character’s father… Know what I mean? Every time that happens, I can’t think of a more fitting background music than, “It’s a small world after all!” There’s really no surprise there as Heroes and Lost‘s creators are one and the same.

Lately, I haven’t really been enjoying Grey’s Anatomy mainly because of Izzie and George. I mean, if they like each other so much, they should have hooked up waaay before George married Callie, right? It’s a bit annoying that they’ve decided to embark on their secret love affair now when they’ve been best friends for so long. OK, maybe I’m just letting personal convictions get in the way. Sorry! On the other hand, I’m hoping McSteamy won’t be leaving Seattle Grace soon. :D

Please don’t hate me for saying this.. but I still enjoy watching Desperate Housewives. I really do. But hey, if you (still) find this TV series offensive, forget what I said. I’m not about to start an argument with anyone. And I’m not gonna talk about my thoughts on the recent racial controversy. That’s really not the point of this post. :)

House is definitely next on my list. Now if only I could find time to get the DVD…

Meme: Desktop Free View

I was tagged by Tina and Jaypee ages ago. The Desktop Free View instructions are:

A. Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun.

As you can see, it’s just one of the default wallpapers of Sony Vaio. Jaypee told me that “For someone who’s into design, I didn’t expect you to use default wallpapers.” What can I say? I love the simple yet classy look of my wallpaper. Halata bang adik ako sa Vaio? Hehe!

I’m trying my best not to clutter my desktop and my documents. I hope they stay neat that way, as I’m known to have a very messy habit of running things. :P

Yep, that’s Heroes. I just got that wallpaper from some website, I forgot where exactly. I’m running 1280×800 widescreen resolution on my laptop (which I think is perfect when working with Photoshop), and 1280×1024 on my PC at work, thus the slight difference. Off-topic survey question: Is anyone still using 800×600?

Another Blog Overhaul

I think I caught a wisp of Mae’s temporary blogger’s block thus the lack of new entries. How long has it been since my last post? :D

Anyway I decided that this blog needs an overhaul. I’ve been working on this layout since last week but because I’m finally paying the price of my being in front of the computer 14 hours a day (give or take a few) which caused my back to ache like crazy, I wasn’t able to finish this as soon as I hoped. It’s nothing fancy but I’m sure the fresh look would do everyone good, especially me who, after some time, gets tired of the same old design.

Thanks to Deej my laptop is working almost as good as new again! I should have asked him to reformat the darn thing a long time ago. I may be a borderline computer geek, but I’m a loser when it comes to hardware stuff.

The title of this new theme Just A Little is a line from Bethany Joy Galeotti‘s song “Let Me Fall“. You can play the audio player at the bottom of this post to hear it.

Let’s see.. I’ve been mentioning how I love her songs in the past few blog posts.. I even embedded an MP3 of When The Stars Go Blue in one entry.. Hmm, can you guess the songs that are playing on my media player at work over and over again for the past two months?

Speaking of Bethany Joy Galeotti, One Tree Hill Season 4 has finally come to an end. It’s a little surprising that they didn’t put more cliffhangers on the finale episode like they did the past 3 seasons, but — oh well. I’m still gonna catch the 5th season, if there’s a 5th season. Here’s the summary of the last episode:

Dan (Paul Johansson) must face the harsh consequences of his decision to murder Keith as Karen (Moira Kelly) and Haley’s (Bethany Joy Galeotti’s) pregnancies complicate the lives of Nathan (James Lafferty) and the graduating seniors of Tree Hill High.

Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) wrestles with his post-high school options, and Peyton (Hilarie Burton) and Brooke (Sophia Bush) prepare to spend the summer in Los Angeles together.

Oookay. How did the subject on blog overhaul suddenly segue into a One Tree Hill update? Talk about incoherence.

Favorite TV Series

So I did think that because I have the tendency to get addicted to TV series I’d finally learn my lesson. But I was wrong. No thanks to Romzkee, who lent me a DVD copy, I’m now hooked on Desperate Housewives as well. At first I thought it wasn’t the type of series that I was going to like since the title itself suggests that it might not be my cup of tea. But I’m surprised that it’s actually very interesting, even to a non-housewife like myself. I’ve only watched the first season though (with the cool, heart-stoppin’ season-ender!). I’m waiting for Romzkee to lend me the 2nd and 3rd seasons of Desperate Housewives. Or I could just get my own copies.

One Tree Hill is doing good again. I think they’ve cleaned up most of the mess from Season 3. With Peyton and Brooke finally friends and roommates again and the whole “The boy is mine!” fuss put behind them (which sort of reminds me of my best friends, lol) the show have gone smooth-sailing again. But that’s after they engaged in a fierce wrestling match right on the street! Nathan and the knocked-up Haley are getting lovelier too, and I’m still very much in love with Bethany Joy Galeotti’s songs.

One Tree Hill Season 4 is getting more exciting especially now that Lucas has found out about his uncle Keith’s real killer. To those interested, The CW has created a One Tree Hill VIP Lounge. You can sign up to interact with other fans.

It’s Grey’s Anatomy‘s turn to go on hiatus. So it’ll be a while before we find out what will finally become of Izzie and George in Season 4.. No, I don’t want them to be together! I’m not in favor of adultery. :P

Don’t you think One Tree Hill is taking too long a break already? I’ve been waiting ages for the latest episode not only of One Tree Hill, but also of Grey’s Anatomy (and Heroes!), and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. Considering the number of hits I get from search engines for different sets of keywords related to One Tree Hill and Grey’s Anatomy, I can just imagine the growing impatience of thousands of fans. Haha. Some of this site’s traffic are directed to my one year old post about One Tree Hill. And, obviously, that doesn’t provide them relevant information anymore now, does it?

The latest episode of One Tree Hill should be available for download today since I read somewhere that that its return date is on April 1st. But I guess the search for the next (Pussycat) doll, which is being aired in place of One Tree Hill, is gonna take longer than it should. I mean, how hard can searching for the right stuffed cat who can carry a tune and shake her booty be? Boo.

Anyway, I wasn’t really planning to blog about One Tree Hill’s return date, I was just supposed to post some of “Peyton’s Artworks” that I have saved in my PC. I got these graphics from Annagwazee. who also just downloaded them from some random website.

The one on the left, which is the current wallpaper of my mobile phone, is my favorite. It’s the CD cover they used for the benefit album Peyton and her birth mom, Ellie, came up with in One Tree Hill Season 3. I find the title “Friends With Benefit” really creative. The album they made in the show is for the benefit of breast cancer patients. I don’t know if they pushed through with that in real life though. It’ll be really cool if they did.

FRIENDS Companion Book and Philippine Blog Awards Update

Look at what Ganns lent me… It’s a FRIENDS companion book! I guess it’s for me to read and familiarize myself with for our next head-to-head Friends Quiz game. He beat me to a pulp the first time we challenged each other in our office pantry (ehh naman ang hihirap ng mga tanong nya! At mas adik pa saken! Hahahaha!), but I shall avenge myself! I only need to find time to watch the 236 Friends episodes again in order to refresh my memory. No big deal. LOL.

Ganns Deen, a.k.a. L.A. Lopez, you’re going down! You better watch your back!

Btw, all the trash-talk, that’s only metaphorically speaking of course. LOL. Who am I kidding? I don’t have the slightest chance going up against him! He’s obviously memorized Friends from start to finish. Adiiiik!

The Philippine Blog Awards is on March 31st! The committees are getting busier by the minute, and I’m excited to work with the others in decorating the place! :) However, a few days ago, I checked the official website and was shocked that this site is nominated for 2 special awards. I know who nominated me for one award, but who the heck did for the other?! I’m really not happy about it. I’m not a competitive person, I’d rather just be on the sides cheering other people on. I really wish they’d agree to scratch me off that list. Can I request the organizers to do that? Anyone?

A Chronic Addiction

For the nth time, Grey’s Anatomy got me all weepy and sniffly again. I wouldn’t normally bother to write about what I think of the story of my favorite TV series but I just got carried away by the latest Grey’s Anatomy episode: Drowning on Dry Land. I noticed how the writers of Grey’s Anatomy always make it a point to center the episode’s plot around a single “main thought”. And the last one’s quite intriguing: If you were missing, would anyone notice? It was the common thought playing inside the minds of some of the characters, and true enough, while everyone was busy doing their thing, nobody noticed that Meredith was missing. She’d been underwater for a long time before Derek found her and rushed her to the hospital, but the other doctors weren’t able to resuscitate her (yet?). The last part of the episode showed her waking up inside an O.R. with Izzie’s dead fiance (season 2) and the dead SWAT man (season 1), looking at her and smiling. Waaah. :(

Nah, I don’t think they’re gonna let Meredith die… She’s the main character, she can’t die! LOL.

The touching part of the episode was when Derek and the other 4 interns were outside the ER, crying. I got weepy just watching Derek all terrified and worried about Meredith. Haha.

The episode also got me thinking myself… If I was missing, would anybody notice? I think it’ll take at least a day before someone will. I’m very unnoticeable. Hehehe!

One Tree Hill is starting to become interesting again. I kinda lost interest at the start of season 4, but the recent hanging episode (ep#15) got me all hooked again. If you must ask, it’s about Nathan and Brooke. Strange tandem? I know!! At least One Tree Hill is starting to get back on track. The earlier (overrated) episodes of season 4 ruined it for me.

I’ve got a new addiction: Heroes. I’m only on the 15th episode of season one and I’m definitely not gonna stop there. :D

ABC’s LOST (no spoilers)

I realize now that buying those cheap, pirated DVDs (Sorry, Tito Edu!!) of LOST seasons 1 & 2 may have been a very bad idea. Because my relentless watching has successfully caused me to be suck in to their “lost” world as well. I’ve watched a few of the season 1 episodes last year but didn’t really think that the story can develop into something sensible. It’s just about a bunch of people stranded in an island after surviving a plane crash — what’s the big deal?? But lo and behold, it does get better. At first I was the only one at home interested in watching it but now my brothers are on it as well and were even the first ones to finish both 1st and 2nd seasons — and are almost halfway through the 3rd one! Hence, they’ve earned the spoiler and bragging rights first. Grrr! LOL.

So among the American TV series that I’m watching (and downloading), here’s the hierarchy of my favorites:

1. Prison Break
2. Lost
3. Grey’s Anatomy
4. One Tree Hill

I’m thinking about what’s gonna be next on my (very addictive) list. I’m deciding between House and The OC. But I think I prefer to watch the one that is on air for not more than 3 years yet. That way, it’s easier to catch up. Heehee. I value recommendations! :)
